Perfect Skype setup: Step five – setup your voicemail (FREE)

By Vitaly Dubravin

Skype comes with built-in voicemail support. You may choose not to use it and forward your call to your cell phone instead as I do. But there are situations, when Skype may choose to use it (rare, but happens). I recommend you to record your personal greeting for Skype voicemail just in case.

To do this open Skype client and go to (Tools menu for Windows) Options -> Calls->Voicemail. Click on the RED button to record and GREEN button to payback you greeting.

There are other settings available on this page and they are self-explanatory.  I choose not to send calls to Skype voicemail and use my cell phone to answer calls missed on Skype instead. My cell phone voicemail will answer if I cannot take a call from there either (step 7).

If you plan to use Skype voicemail, then you need to check “Send unanswered calls to voicemail”.  You may also consider adding “I rejected an incoming call” – which will send a call to your voicemail when you click on the DECLINE button when a call comes instead of dropping a call.
